Love Happens

Over a year ago I popped two African Violet leaves into two separate pots—watering and fertilizing all that time.

About a month ago I was frustrated about a current life issue. I had had enough with them and decided to toss them out. If we had a dog the violets may have been spared.

I plucked one leaf out of its pot and tossed it into the trash. Just as I was preparing to rip the leaf from the other pot, my dear hubby came around the corner and caught me in the act.

“What are you doing??? You nursed these for so long and you’re giving up now?!?!” I simply glowered!

That’s when he noticed a teensy, weensy tendril appearing at the base of the leaf, hugging it’s mama, deep down in the soil! He tenderly placed fresh soil back around it and returned it to the light. So we wait. It will be months before blooms appear, but there’s no doubt in my mind that they will…with months of tending and nurturing and again more waiting.

Isn’t that how it is in our relationships? Just when we’re ready to toss in the towel and have given up after years of tending … love surprises and pops out of the ground to greet us.

Given enough time…LOVE happens!!
